The new year startet with a big long party with almost all of my friends. We’ve been in Podersdorf for some sitting together and drink and then we went to the “famous” Martinskeller for the rest of the night and the next morning… We had a great firework and I drank way to much… But it was so good to meet everybody and it was a good start in a hopefully good 2009.
After getting sober again I have started to pack my stuff and tomorrow I’ll fly to Capetown…
Chris Zarfl made a short video from this event. In the second part it started snowing like hell and this was exactly the time we arrived in Obertauern… Anyway - we had a lot of fun!!
Last weekend my girfriend and I drove to Obertauern to the SAMSUNG Snowkite Masters 08 powered by ISUZU. It was snowing almost the whole weekend and so we had masses of snow… The first of the two days we had not enough wind - so we decided to go for some skiing and snowboarding. I teached Carina how to snowboard and we chilled and had a nice time in the mountains. On Sunday it got windy. It was snowing like hell and the police almost won’t let me up the mountain because the road was closed. After some dicussions we made it just in time. Carina and I pumped up my 13 Prima Donna as fast as possible and when we got everything done my heat started. Due to the bad wind on friday and saturday it was my first time to snowkite. After some troubles I got into it more and more and so I could win some heats and got into the final. At the end I got 2nd which makes me really happy… I won a cool Mp3 player from Samsung and had a lot of fun on the snow. The winner of the event was my JN teammate Heinar Brandstötter.
At the end I have to thank everybody. Most of all the guys from Stylehunter for this really well organisated event and a really big fat thanks goes to my girlfriend who relaunched my kite aproximately hundred times because I crashed it into every tent, mast and person on the small kiteplace in Obertauern. Without her I could never make it on 2nd place.
In the moment there is not much to do here in Austria. I’m preparing myself for the next season with a lot of gym- training and in beginning of 2009 I will start my training in Capetown.
But now I’ll try something new and go for a snowkite-event in Obertauern/ Austria.
I’m really looking foreward to this competition but I don’t know how it gonna be exactly and how it feels to kite on snow…
Today there was a nice article in Austrias biggest newspaper “Kronenzeitung”. A lot of people in Austria read this paper so it makes me happy to see myself in it.
In the moment not much happens here in Austria. It got pretty cold and often foggy… Winter is coming! Hopefully soon there will be some snow so I can unpack my snowboard and rip the Alps…
Today was one of the days with the strongest wind this year on the lake. Although it was late in autumn it was very warm (21 degerees C) and: IT WAS WINDY!!! We had gusts up to 38 knots which made it pretty funny with the 7 m kites.
A lot of people and friends where on the beach an the kiteloopsession with Oli and mydad was awsome. Unfortunateley my dad broke some ribs after a huge kiteloop… Bad luck for him after his birthdayfeast last weekend but on the other side because of this fact he found some time to take some pictures.
Last weekend my father invited my sisters, their boyfriends, his wife, my grandfather, my grandmother in law, my girlfriend and me to fly with him to Amsterdam to celebrate his birthday. Today he gets 50 years old…
So everybody met at 4AM on Saturday to get to the airport and to catch a plane with direction Amsterdam. We spent there the whole day and had a lot of fun! We took a boat trough the Grachtes, went to museums, walked throug the whole city and did a lot of sightseeing… ;.) After dinner and very tired we flew back to Vienna. From there we drove to Podersdorf to party! All our friends allready waited there to celebrate with us… The party was great and it took us till next morning before we could go to bed…
It was a pretty crazy weekend and we enjoyed it a lot. So much fun… You find some pics in my gallery.
I really have to thank my dad for this trip and everything he is doing for me…
After 3 windless days in Italy the wind came back and we could do our photoshoot and I was able to test the new kites. We had three days with wind and very diffrent conditions like flatwater in a nice lagoon, chop and some waves. I could try all sizes we’ve got with us (9, 11, 13 and 15) and I’m really stoked about the new Prima Donna 3. Its a real C kite with lots of power and it has big potential for freestyle. Due to its big range and the easy handling I’m sure that everybody will have fun with her too. My father took some pics and I loaded them in the gallery. Check them out!!!
Now I am back in Austria and train a lot in the gym.
After being one day at home the next day I got a plane to Sardinia. Here I am now to test the new stuff from JN and to take a lot of pictures for next year.
Till now we haven’t been too lucky with the wind here but for the next days the forecast looks promising. I uploaded some Pictures in the gallery. There you can also see the new Prima Donna III. Looks awsome!!!
I hope that the next day will be good for some action…
Here we are at the last PKRA-tourstop 2008. All the riders came to battle it out fort he last time this year. The 10th competition of the season turned out to be one of the windiest and coldest one. On the first day pretty good waves where rolling in and so they startet with the waveevent. The whole dingleelemination was done on this day. They did not anounce the result yet but in the final Kevin Langeree and Gilly Brandao battled to win the worldchampionchip…
On the second day the freestyle comp started. Due the fact that not too many people appeared I made it straight in the second round. In this round I was against Tom Hebert from New Caledonia. I have to say that I was coming here with an Airline that allowed me to bring only 23 kilo to Chile. So I’m here with almost no clothings and I also had to leave my 7 at home, wich turned out to be a bad desicion… I went out on my 9 but at the very fist moment on the water I felt that I was overpowerd like hell. I tried to make the best out of it and had some awsome powered tricks in this heat! At the end Tom took the win because of better variity with his 7…
On the Third day the double was held and I had a good day with a lot of fun on the water. Unfortunatly my first opponent here was my room mate and friend Maciek Kozerski from Poland. We both gave everything and I had the better end for me… In the fight for place 7 I had to go against Alex Pastor from Spain. I putted everthing in this heat and landed some pretty good stuff… Anyway they gave it to him for a reason which I haven’t found out…
Now I’m staying here two more days and than I’m going back home…
There have been a lot of reports from last weekend (ÖM - expression session) in our main broadcasting company ORF. It’s good for our sport to have so much coverage!
